Working on a soundscape was very new to me and fun at times. My piece was meant to represent the struggles of traveling to and from home a lot and I don't feel like I nailed as well as I would have wanted.
The audience didn't understand what I was trying to portray more than likely because I didn't add more obvious sounds to the setting. I also faltered in the way I used my headphones to make the piece. What I mean by that is, my audio levels were at a comfortable level while I worked on them so I thought It would be loud enough. Due to this being a new platform I've never used and my misconception of how loud my audio actually is, come presentation, my piece was almost impossible to hear. key moments such as some sighs of feeling and the final "finally" were completely inaudible. This was very disappointing....
Perhaps a few things I could have done differently would be to put more interesting sounds. I'd try and feel what I'm listening to and maybe stray a bit away from real life and create something abstract. That seems to be the only thing that gets overall positive praise. As per my last artist statement, I might have touched on more despairing topics.
I think an audio piece of what it might feel like to meteorically drown in life could be quite thought provoking and interesting. I would also increase the volume and play with that mix of tools more.
This is how I felt after my soundscape presentation.... :(
